I am a fiscal conservative who knows that low taxes with money spent well create a better place to work, live, and raise a family. Low taxes with consistent leadership make Douglas County an attractive place for small businesses to grow and families to call home. I will make sure that Douglas County passes a balanced budget each year and oppose using one-time funding sources to pay for on-going expenses. The county must live within its means and not spend money that it doesn’t have. I will fight for financial responsibility so that we can keep our county taxes low and economic opportunity high.
“The county must live within its means and not spend money that it doesn’t have.”
— John Carson
Almost 400,000 people now call Douglas County home. For years, Douglas County was among the fastest growing counties in the country, and while the rate of growth has slowed relative to other places, we still have an obligation to make sure that smart growth doesn’t mean the loss of open space and recreation opportunities here. Proper planning on land use, water, and transportation will continue to be important for our home and will determine how we leave Douglas County for future generations.
In an increasingly dangerous world, it is even more important that we support our men and women in law enforcement. Working in partnership with our Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly and our next District Attorney, I will prioritize funding aimed at keeping our communities safe and criminals out of our neighborhoods. Our first responders, whether they be local police, fire, EMT, or our Sheriff’s office, are critical to keeping our families safe and deserve our appreciation.
INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS –
I will focus on maintaining Douglas County’s long-standing legacy of freedom and individual rights.
